RELAP5-3D is the latest in the RELAP5 code series developed at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) for the analysis of transients and accidents in water–cooled nuclear power plants and related systems as well as the analysis of advanced reactor designs.

The RELAP5–3D code is an outgrowth of the one-dimensional RELAP5/MOD3 code developed at the INL.  The most prominent attribute that distinguishes RELAP5–3D from its predecessors is the fully integrated, multi-dimensional thermal-hydraulic and kinetic modeling capability.

RELAP5–3D is available from the INL through membership in the International RELAP5 Users Group (IRUG).

The code is currently configured to run on both Linux and Windows. Operating systems and compilers supported are:

  • O/S
    • Linux: OpenSUSE: 13.2 (x86_64)
    • Windows: Windows 7, SP1

  • Intel compiler designation
    • On Linux: Version 13.1.3
    • On Windows: Composer XE 2013, SP1, Update 2

RELAP5-3D Training Workshop

This year the INL plans on offering a three-day advanced RELAP5-3D Training Workshop immediately preceding the International RELAP5 Users Group (IRUG) Seminar and Meeting (IRUG). Dates for the training class are October 3-5, 2016. Please see the attached agenda for training topics covered. The class is open to individuals from organizations that have a current RELAP5-3D license and have been approved by the INL as RELAP5-3D users for their organization. Attendees are required to furnish their own laptop with RELAP5-3D version 4.0.3 or higher installed.

Seminar and IRUG Meeting /RAVEN Training

The 2016 International RELAP5 Users Group (IRUG) Seminar and Meeting begins October 6, 2016 and concludes on October 7, 2016 with the User’s Group Business Meeting. At the conclusion of the User’s Group Business on Friday October 7, there will be a Training Workshop for the RAVEN code. RAVEN training is open to everyone. .

Please refer to the agenda link here for training topics covered

RAVEN is a generic software framework designed to perform parametric and stochastic analysis based on the response of complex system codes. It is designed to collect probabilistic risk assessment, uncertainty quantification, optimization and validation methods on the same platform, providing to the user a complete framework to fulfill their analysis needs.

RAVEN is currently coupled with several codes; for example, RELAP5-3D, RELAP-7, MOOSE-based applications, MELCOR, and MAAP.
